On September 26, 2024 at 6:00–9:00 p.m. ET, NASBE is offering its first ever New Student Member Institute. There are 24 states with voting or nonvoting students serving on the state board and sharing a deep passion for improving academic outcomes for students in their state. For years, NASBE’s New Member Institute has offered training to incoming state board members on how to be effective education leaders and establish working relationships with new state board members from around the country. This year, we are offering virtual training specifically designed for the unique needs of student board members. The training will equip them to be successful on their state board.
Students who attend the New Student Member Institute will
- discuss common policy concerns and real-world examples of how students on state boards are addressing them;
- establish working relationships among new student board members from across the country; and
- gain an understanding of NASBE’s resources and how NASBE helps elevate student voice at a national level.
