The National Association of State Boards of Education (NASBE) held a webinar on June 29, 2011 that explored the connection between school leadership and student achievement. Sponsored by The Wallace Foundation, the webinar highlights recent research on what makes principals successful, as well as how state policy can have an impact on effective leadership, particularly through principal evaluation.
Speakers include:
- Karen Seashore Louis, Regents Professor of Organizational Leadership, Policy and Development, and Robert H. Beck Chair of Ideas in Education, University of Minnesota, will discuss the role that leadership can play in student achievement and school culture, effective leadership practices and the devastating impact of leader transitions on school improvement.
- Amelia Hodges, Associate Secretary for the College and Workforce Readiness, Delaware Department of Education, will discuss the development and implementation of the Delaware Performance Appraisal System (DPAS II) as it relates to the evaluation of school principals.
