According to the National Association of School Nurses (NASN,) administering medication to students is one of the most common health-related activities performed in school. The surge in medication use, along with the increasing complexity of medications warrants a clear administration process. Failure to have such a process in place can have adverse educational, behavioral, and academic consequences for children.

Join NASBE November 9, from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. (EDT) for a special look at results from a national survey of school medication administration conducted by the NASN and a discussion of policy implications for state boards of education and other school health policy leaders and decision makers. NASN researcher Erin Maughan and Ann Marie McCarthy from the University of Iowa, College of Nursing are the featured presenters.
