The Trump administration’s decision to rescind the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program leaves nearly 800,000 children of immigrants facing ambiguity about their future. On both sides of the aisle, lawmakers on Capitol Hill have urged a legislative fix to restore DACA protections so that the children of immigrants can become contributing members of the country in which they were raised.
Join NASBE on October 5, 2017, from 3:00 – 4:00 PM (EDT), for a member-only webinar that unpacks the administration’s recent actions and explores how the DACA decision fits within an existing system of protections for students. Nicole Proesch, Iowa state board attorney and chair of the National Council of State Attorney Education Attorneys (NCOSEA), will explain what the DACA decision means for schools and which requirements still apply to students and school operations, while Foresight Law + Policy’s Reg Leichty will provide insight on congressional developments to date and potential legislative solutions.
